Ten points when Preparing to Sell

  • Have the air conditioning and furnace systems cleaned and serviced by a licensed HVAC technician.

  • Repair cracks in interior drywall and cracks in mortar joints at brick veneer and ceramic tile.

  • Check for the presence of Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters.

  • Repair all leaking faucets and toilets.

  • Check for rotted trim, siding or door jams at exterior of home.

  • Check bottom of wooden garage doors for deterioration from water penetration.

  • Have firebox and chimney checked by a certified chimney sweep. Repair and clean firebox and chimney if necessary.

  • Stand back and look at surface of the roof to see if abnormal sagging exist. Additional bracing of the roofing structure may be necessary if additional weight has been added by the installation of a new roof covering.

  • Check roof for loose or deteriorated shingles, repair and replace as necessary.
